And The Green Grass Grows All Around Part 2

Yes! Part 2! Part 1 was about unhatched baby birds, so Part 2 could only mean you-know-what!

Or maybe you don't know. You missed Part 1 or you're a visual learner like me. In that case . . .

It means that this happened!!!!

Yesterday evening's visit to the nest turned up an awesome surprise when we found this little guy, newly hatched. His feathers were still wet and he looked EXHAUSTED lying there next to his younger brothers and sisters. Not quite as active as these little fuzz balls.

About 24 hours later, we went to check them again. It was raining a bit, so at best we hoped to see the mother bird sitting on the nest. Imagine our surprise when we saw 3 new babies hungry for something to eat! We covered them up with our umbrella and took a few snaps for you.

I love their little mohawks in this one.

It's amazing, isn't it? They're ready-made for life in just a few hours.

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.
                                 Luke 12:6

The only thing I can wish for now is the chance to witness the last little latecomer actually hatching - now that would really be something. I'm seriously considering staking out their nest tonight - going The Last Song style with a beach chair and a good book.

(For those of you who haven't read The Last Song, the main character stakes out a sea turtle nest with a beach chair and a good book.)

If anyone has a copy of The Last Song for me to borrow tonight, I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, I could use a beach chair.

Love, Bella
